Hypoallergenic Earrings and Tips and Tricks to Avoid Irritation
Does your skin easily gets irritated
by wearing a particular pair of earrings? It might indicate that you are
allergic to this particular metal and should get rid of it as soon as possible.
Not everyone has the freedom to wear
whatever kind of earrings they like. Some people have to pay detailed attention
to what metal they are wearing so as to prevent rashes and irritation.
Best Suited Earrings for Sensitive
Skin
Most people are allergic to Nickel.
Therefore, the first thing you might want to get rid of is your pre-existing
nickel earrings. People with sensitive skin should wear nickel-free hypoallergenic
earrings. If you have sensitive skin, you should only stick to
platinum, gold, and silver. Even there, you need to make sure you’re buying
gold that is 14k or above and sterling silver 925. You should also stay away
from 24k gold because of your hypersensitivity.
Plastic, Titanium, Stainless Steel,
and Niobium are also great for sensitive skin.
Making an old pair of earrings
Hypoallergenic
This is a trick which may or may not
work for you. Please make sure you test it for yourself before recommending it
to someone else.
The most common solution is to coat
your earring with clear nail polish. After it dries, it creates a layer between
your skin and the metal and therefore will not irritate your skin. You need to
keep reapplying the nail polish whenever it starts wearing off to make sure
that the metal isn’t coming in contact with your skin.
You can alternatively clean the pair
of earrings with hydrogen peroxide and apply a layer of Vaseline over it. This
however wears off faster than the previously mentioned trick so you need to
keep applying the Vaseline every couple of hours.
Keep these tips in mind and keep your
skin irritation-free by wearing the right metal.
